Project outline for Visual Arts:
*Intermediate, Proficient, and Advanced students ONLY have a $25.00 required art fee for course materials.
Beginning Art students do NOT have an art fee.
- Basic Drawing and shading (ex. still life drawing with pencil on paper).
- Painting methods with water colors (integrated with global research of cultures throughout history).
- Literacy is incorporated throughout the term as it relates to the art curriculum.
- Many times literacy is incorporated into the art itself (ex. collage).
- Vocabulary terms relative to the creation of art and culture are integrated into research, reading, and creative projects.
- 3-dimensional paper constructs are conceptualized and created.
- 3-dimensional clay works are created.
- Artwork is created with charcoal, chalk, pastels, ink, tempera paint, acrylic paint, air dry clay, resistive crayon, and other media.
- Thematic world issue collages (incorporating world affairs research).
- Through exposure to videos, keynotes, web searches, art shows, contest participation, etc., students are exposed to art history and culture, both globally, and in our community.
- Art movements are explored and students will try to capture the essence of these movements their own creations (ex. students create Pop Art themed artwork).
- Advanced students are given more choices and more challenging assignments. They are also introduced to a wider array of materials and techniques.
- Advanced students who want to pursue visual arts beyond high school will work on creating a portfolios of their works.
